The victim in this homicide is identified as 30-year-old Nathan Dotson. Dotson’s family has been notified of his death and they are requesting privacy at this time.

The suspect in this fatal stabbing in the Hollywood Neighborhood has been arrested.

The suspect in this stabbing homicide, 38-year-old James David Hera, was arrested and has been charged with Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. A second victim survived and is being treated at a local hospital.

The identity of the deceased will be released after the Medical Examiner confirms cause of death, they are positively identified, and immediate family has been notified.

On Monday, October 17, 2022, 12:36 a.m., officers from the North Precinct responded to stabbing call in the area of Northeast 42 Avenue and Northeast Weidler Street. Officers arrived to find an adult male and an adult female who was injured. Officers started to give both victims first aid but the male died at the scene. The female victim was transported to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. An adult male has been detained as part of the investigation.

The Portland Police Homicide Unit has responded to investigate. During the investigation, Northeast Weidler Street will be closed from Northeast 42nd Avenue to Northeast 43rd Avenue. The identity of the victim will be released after they are positively identified, the Medical Examiner has confirmed cause of death, and after family members have been notified.

The PIO is not responding to the scene. More information will be released when appropriate.
