Suspect Identified in Officer Involved Shooting

The suspect involved in this shooting has been identified as 33-year-old Antoine Young. Young was released from the hospital on November 13, 2022, and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on an Outstanding Warrant and Parole Violation. This case is still under investigation and additional information will be released when appropriate.

An officer-involved shooting investigation is underway in the area of Harrison Park, in the Montavilla Neighborhood.

On November 7, 2022, at 8:51 a.m., East Precinct Officers were dispatched, along with Portland Fire & Rescue, on the report of a man setting a vehicle on fire in the 2000 Block of Southeast 83rd Avenue. Officers located and confronted the suspect, who was armed. During the confrontation, officers fired shots, striking him. The suspect remained uncooperative, prompting supervisors to activate Portland's Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT). The suspect was taken into custody and is being treated for his injuries at a local hospital.

The burning vehicle became fully engulfed in flames, but eventually burned itself out.

Per policy, Portland's Homicide Unit has assumed control of this investigation. The investigation is still in its early stages and additional information cannot be released at this time. Updates will be released at the direction of investigators.

Investigators believe there were witnesses who may have information about the events that led up to this incident but who left the scene and have not yet talked to police.
