UPDATE: Pedestrian Killed in Centennial Neighborhood Crash Identified (Photo)

The pedestrian involved in the Centennial Neighborhood crash is identified as Penny A. Griffith, 68, of Portland. Her family has been notified of her death.

Preliminary investigation suggests Griffith was crossing Southeast Division Street walking southbound. The involved vehicle was a Chevrolet Suburban traveling eastbound. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The crash remains under investigation. No arrests have been made.

This is the 2nd fatal traffic crash of 2023 in Portland.

A pedestrian died after a crash involving a vehicle in the Centennial Neighborhood, and a section of Southeast Division Street is closed for the investigation.

On Friday, January 6, 2023 at 5:18p.m., East Precinct officers responded to a report of a crash at Southeast Division Street and Southeast 168th Avenue. When they arrived with medical crews, they found the crash involved a pedestrian and a vehicle driver. The pedestrian, a female adult, was assessed by paramedics and confirmed to be deceased at the scene. The vehicle driver remained on scene.

The Portland Police Traffic Division Major Crash Team is responding to the scene to investigate the crash. During the investigation, Southeast Division Street is closed between Southeast 166th Avenue and Southeast 174th Avenue.
