***ORIGINAL MESSAGES BELOW***

The search for armed suspects continues in the Hazelwood Neighborhood of Southeast Portland.

On Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 6:33a.m., East Precinct officers responded to a report of a robbery at a convenience store in the 9100 block of Southeast Division Street. The store employee was not injured, but reported that two people robbed him and he saw firearms before the suspects left on foot.

Officers searching the area located the suspects nearby and attempted to stop them, but the suspects ran off. Additional officers responded to assist and contained the area of Southeast 96th Avenue to Southeast 101st Avenue, Southeast Lincoln Street to Southeast Caruthers Street. The Incident Commander activated the Community Emergency Notification System (CENS) to notify residents and other community members within that area of the situation. They were asked to stay inside, lock doors and windows as a precaution, and call 911 if they saw anything suspicious. Schools near the area were asked to secure their perimeters, but they could operate as usual inside.

The suspects are described as 1 male and 1 female.

Due to the danger of armed suspects possibly hiding in the blocks, the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) responded to the scene. PPB K9, the Air Support Unit, and the Gresham Police Department also responded to assist with the tactical incident. The Major Crimes Unit responded to investigate.

If anyone has information about this case, please e-mail crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov attention: Major Crimes Unit and reference case number 23-29469.
