Driver of Stolen Vehicle Backs into PPB Police Car

Last night, December 7 2013, at approximately 8:39 p.m., an East Precinct officer observed a stolen vehicle pull into the drive-thru of a fast food restaurant in the area of S.E. 148th Ave. and S.E. Division Street. The officer requested cover and pulled in behind the vehicle.

The driver of the stolen vehicle attempted to flee by backing into the patrol car, driving forward into the vehicle in front of him and then driving over the curb. The vehicle did not clear the curb and became stuck.

The driver fled the scene on-foot. Officers established a perimeter and began a search for the suspect using a K-9. After an extensive search officers located the driver, hiding on the roof of a nearby apartment complex.

The driver, identified as 23-year-old Scott Thomas Petersen, was taken into custody on multiple charges including outstanding warrants, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, attempt to elude, criminal mischief I, reckless driving and reckless endangerment. The incident was resolved without any injuries to those involved.
