On Tuesday February 4, 2014, at 5:00 a.m., the Portland Police Bureau's Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) served a search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of Northeast Meadows Drive and arrested a man involved in a January gang shooting in Southeast Portland's Centennial neighborhood.

19-year-old Alexander James Hamilton was arrested in connection with the January 18, 2014 shooting investigation that started in the 600 block of Southeast 162nd Avenue.

Gang Enforcement Team (GET) detectives began this investigation after responding to assist East Precinct officers on a report of shots fired in the neighborhood. Officers were in the area and heard the gunshots and saw several people running on Southeast 162nd Avenue. Officers contacted Hamilton at the scene but were unable to charge him at that time. No gunshot victims were located.

During a search of the neighborhood, officers recovered a handgun.

GET Detectives continued to investigate the case which led to yesterday's arrest of Hamilton for the shooting.

Hamilton was charged with two counts of Attempted Murder and two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and booked into the Multnomah County Jail.

The Portland Police Bureau Gang Enforcement Team and Gun Task Force are continuing to actively investigate gang and gun crimes in the City of Portland.
