###ORIGINAL MESSAGE BELOW###
Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division investigators arrested 24-year-old Jay Taylor Jenkins early Monday morning in connection with Saturday night's fatal hit and run crash to a pedestrian at Southeast 124th Avenue and Powell Boulevard.
The victim has been identified as 60-year-old Douglas Norman Miller.
Acting on a tip, Traffic investigators went to a residence in the area of Southeast 141st Avenue and Center Street at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Sunday night and located the suspect vehicle in the fatal hit and run.
Investigators served a search warrant to recover the 1995 Subaru station wagon from the property and arrested Jenkins along with 29-year-old Jerin Nigel Crabtree. Crabtree is believed to have been assisting Jenkins with attempting to repair damage to the vehicle.
Investigators initially had information that a silver mini-van was involved in the hit and run but eventually located the vehicle and eliminated it from consideration.
Jenkins, also known as "Junebug," was charged with Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver (Hit and Run), Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Obstructing Governmental Administration. Crabtree was charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence.
Both were booked into the Multnomah County Jail and will be arraigned on Tuesday February 18.
This was the third fatal crash of 2014 in Portland.
Anyone with information about this crash is asked to contact Officer Erik Koppang at (503) 823-2216 or email@example.com.
