Man Arrested for Reed Neighborhood Homicide (Photo)

On Monday, May 8, 2023, 29-year-old Adam Jamal Burns was arrested by US Marshals, with the assistance of the Vancouver Police Department, in Vancouver, WA. A warrant had been issued for Burns’ arrest for the murder of April Nicole Newcomb-Cripe. Burns was booked on the outstanding warrant and is being charged with Murder in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He will remain in Washington pending the extradition process.

The victim of the April 15, 2023, homicide in the Reed Neighborhood is identified as 28-year-old April Nicole Newcomb-Cripe. Her family has been notified of her death and provided the attached photograph for public release. They are requesting privacy at this time.

The Medical Examiner has determined she died of homicide by gunshot wound.

A woman is deceased in a shooting in the Reed Neighborhood.

On Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11:25p.m., Central Precinct Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2800 block of Southeast Colt Drive. When they arrived they found a woman deceased.

The suspect or suspects left the scene before police arrived and no arrests have been made.

During the investigation, Southeast Colt Drive is closed between Southeast 26th Avenue and Southeast 30th Avenue.

The Portland Police Homicide Unit is responding to the scene to investigate.
