The man who died in the May 11 southeast Portland crash is identified as Daniel Q. London, 19, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death.
Preliminary investigation indicates that London was driving a white 2022 Tesla Model Y 4-door sedan when his vehicle collided with a black 2022 Freightliner flatbed tow truck being driven by an adult male. The tow truck driver was transported to the hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. A third vehicle at the intersection was damaged by vehicle debris from the crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
This is the 19th traffic fatality this year in the City of Portland.

One person is deceased after a 2-vehicle crash in Southeast Portland.
On Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 1:05p.m., East Precinct officers responded to a report of a crash at Southeast Duke Street and Southeast 72nd Avenue. When they arrived they found a crash involving two vehicles, including a car and a tow truck. The driver of the car was deceased at the scene. The tow truck driver was seriously injured and transported to the hospital for treatment.
The Portland Police Traffic Division Major Crash Team responded to the scene and is investigating. During the investigation, streets are closed between Southeast 71st Avenue and Southeast 73rd Avenue, and Southeast Henry Street to Southeast Claybourne Street.
