The man who died in the June 6, 2023 crash in the Eliot Neighborhood is identified as Lorenzo Porter, 58, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death.
The investigation revealed that Porter’s vehicle, a 1998 Buick Century, was northbound on North Williams Avenue when it collided with a 2017 Jaguar SUV whose driver was going westbound on North Fremont Street. Speed and alcohol impairment are believed to be factors in the crash. No arrests were made.
This crash was the 27th traffic fatality this year in Portland. There have been 2 more since then, totaling 29 fatal crashes 2023 year-to-date.

On 6/6/2023 at approximately 7:41 p.m. officers from the North Precinct responded to a call of an injury accident at the intersection of N Fremont Street and N Williams Avenue in the Eliot neigborhood.
When officers arrived, they found that the driver of one vehicle was deceased at the scene. The driver of a second involved vehicle had serious but not life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.
Investigators from the Major Crash Team responded to the scene to begin their investigation. North Williams Avenue between N Beech Street and N Cook Street will be closed for several hours as investigators process the scene and collect evidence.

More information, including the identity of the deceased driver, will be released at a later date.
