The victim who died from this incident has been identified as Dominick Lee Sawyer, 29. His family has been notified of his death and provided the attached photograph of him for public distribution. His mother is willing to speak to media. Interested reporters can contact ppbpio@police.portlandoregon.gov

The Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be by gunshot and the manner of death to be homicide.

On 6/10/23 at approximately 1:47 a.m. officers from the Central Precinct Entertainment Detail were on patrol when they encountered an in-progress shooting at the intersection of SW 3rd Avenue and SW Harvey Milk Street in Downtown Portland.

Officers provided medical aid on scene to two shooting victims. Despite their efforts, one was declared deceased on the scene. A second victim was transported to an area hospital for life threatening injuries. A third victim was transported for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators from the Homicide Detail arrived on scene to take over the investigation.
