UPDATE: Suspect Arrested for July 5th Homicide (Photo)

The suspect has been arrested and is facing murder, and other charges, related to an Argay Terrace Neighborhood homicide.

On August 8, 2023, Homicide Detectives, in coordination with the Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) and the United States Marshal’s Service Fugitive Task Force, arrested 38-year-old Raymond Lavaughn Grant, in Downtown Portland. Grant was interviewed by Detectives before being booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on a warrant for Murder in the Second Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

The victim of the Argay Terrace Neighborhood shooting is identified as Ace L. Lewis, 28, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death and provided the attached photograph for public release.

The medical examiner determined that he died of homicide by gunshot. This remains an open, active homicide investigation. On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at 12:48 a.m., officers from the North Precinct responded to a shooting call in the 4400 block of Northeast 131st Place. When officers arrived, they found a man who was dead. No one has been detained and no arrests have been made.

The Portland Police Homicide detectives have responded to the scene to investigate.
