The woman killed in Wednesday’s shooting in the Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood is Laura Guerrero-Rafaela, 41, of Portland. Her family has been notified of her death and provided the attached photograph for public release. A family member is willing to speak with news media.

The medical examiner determined that she died of homicide by gunshot wounds.

A woman died after a shooting in the Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood.

On Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 5:31p.m., East Precinct officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 5500 block of Southeast 111th Avenue. When officers arrived, they found an adult female victim. Officers performed lifesaving efforts including trauma first aid prior to the arrival of EMS. Despite these efforts by officers and paramedics, the victim was deceased.

The suspect or suspects left the scene before police were called and no immediate arrests were made.

The Portland Police Homicide Unit is responding to the scene to investigate. During the investigation, Southeast 111th Avenue is closed between Southeast Steele Street and Southeast Foster Road. Southeast Harold Street is closed between Southeast 109th Avenue and Southeast 115th Avenue.
