Man Injured In Friday Night Shooting (Photo)

A man was shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries after an altercation in the Madison South Neighborhood.

On Friday, August 4, 2023, at approximately 9:50 p.m., officers from the East Precinct responded to a report of an injury shooting in the area of Northeast 66th Avenue and Northeast Halsey Street. When they arrived, officers found evidence of a shooting. Officers learned there had been a fight between two men, which resulted in a shooting of one of the men. The victim of the shooting was taken to an area hospital in a private vehicle prior to the arrival of police or paramedics. Officers responded to the hospital and contacted the victim, whose injuries were non-life-threatening.

During the investigation, officers learned the suspect and victim both lived in a nearby apartment complex. Officers from the Focused Intervention Team (FIT) and detectives from the Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) responded to investigate. Detectives eventually obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s apartment, which was served with the assistance of the Special Emergency Reaction Team. A firearm believed to be used in the shooting was recovered during the search. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
