The suspect in the homicide of Traves Barisich is identified as Isaac L. Woodward, 44.
Just before Barisich’s death on Thursday, September 28, 2023, detectives believe Woodward was involved in an unrelated robbery in the area of Southeast Division Street and Southeast 20th Avenue. Woodward is also the suspect in another unrelated incident, a stabbing, at an apartment complex in the Multnomah Neighborhood on September 29, 2023. Officers located and arrested Woodward shortly after the knife attack. While in custody, detectives tied him to the robbery and homicide one day earlier.
On October 3, 2023, Woodward was indicted by a Grand Jury on the below charges for the robbery and homicide. A Grand Jury will convene later this week for the stabbing Woodward was arrested for on Friday.

Robbery: Robbery in the First Degree, Attempted Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Fourth Degree, Attempted Strangulation

The victim killed in the Hosford-Abernethy Neighborhood Thursday is identified as Traves D. Barisich, 46. His family has been notified of his death and provided the attached photograph for public release. They are requesting privacy at this time.
The medical examiner conducted an autopsy and determined he died of homicide by blunt force trauma.
The case remains under investigation.

A homicide investigation is underway in the Hosford-Abernethy Neighborhood.
On Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 4:24a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to a report of an assault in the 2400 block of Southeast 26th Avenue. When they arrived they located a victim, believed to be an adult male, deceased at the scene. The suspect or suspects left the scene before police arrived and no immediate arrests were made.
The Portland Police Homicide Unit is responding to the scene to investigate. During the investigation, Southeast Division Street is closed to all traffic between Southeast 25th Avenue and Southeast 27th Avenue and is likely to remain closed for several hours.
