A public memorial honoring the service of the Portland Police Bureau's Canine "Mick" has been scheduled for Monday May 12, 2014, at 10:30 a.m.

Mick was killed on April 16, 2014, and his Canine Handler, Officer Jeff Dorn, was injured in a shootout in Southwest Portland.

Thanks to a partnership with the Hillsboro Police Department, the memorial celebration will be held at Hillsboro Stadium, located at 4450 NW 229th Avenue in Hillsboro (along Highway 26).

Community members are invited and are encouraged to ride MAX (Blue Line / NW 229th & Evergreen Parkway stop).

Additional details will be released as they are finalized this week.

Police K-9 teams that are interested and planning on attending should contact K-9 Unit Officer Shawn Gore by email:

Several members of the community have asked if there is a donation fund for the K-9 Unit. The Bureau has learned that donations are tax-deductible and can be sent directly to the Portland Police Bureau K-9 Unit:
