A pedestrian-involved fatal crash on December 5th at Northeast 122nd Avenue and Northeast Glisan Street was determined to be a suicide. The investigation revealed that East Precinct officers received a call of a man sitting in the middle of the road on Northeast 122nd Avenue just north of Northeast Glisan Street. An officer was nearby and responded immediately, but a collision with a vehicle occurred before the officer arrived. The involved driver stopped immediately and cooperated with the investigation. Factors in the crash include lack of visibility due to darkness and rainy weather, and the pedestrian being in dark clothing. The medical examiner ruled the pedestrian's death a suicide.
The deceased pedestrian’s name is not included due to the determination that it was a suicide. His family has been notified of his death.

On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 9:48 p.m., officers from the East Precinct responded to a call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on NE 122nd Avenue, north of NE Glisan Street. Officers arrived to find the pedestrian who was deceased.
Details surrounding the incident are limited at this time. The Portland Police Bureau Major Crash Team is responding to the scene to investigate. During this time, NE 122nd Avenue will be closed in both directions between NE Glisan Street and NE Oregon Street.
