An arson investigation is underway following a series of fires on a city-owned property in the St. Johns Neighborhood.

On Sunday, January 7, 2024, at 3:22 a.m., Portland Fire & Rescue (PF&R) responded to reports of a fire on a city-owned property in the 10000 block of North Portland Road. Firefighters extinguished the flames, but not before they caused tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage to a forklift, excavator, and bulldozer.

Information gathered at the scene suggested the fires that damaged the equipment were intentionally set. PF&R’s Fire Investigations Unit is investigating. The Portland Police Bureau is asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect(s) as shown in two photos detectives are releasing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Meredith Hopper meredith.hopper@police.portlandoregon.gov and reference case number 24-800235.
