The pedestrian who died in this crash has been identified as Thomas Amato, 71, of Portland. Amato's family has been notified of his death.

A pedestrian has been killed in a crash in Southeast Portland, MCT on scene.

On Sunday, February 4, 2024, at approximately 5:44 p.m., officers from the East Precinct responded to calls about a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 9700 block of Southeast Woodstock Boulevard.

Officers arrived on scene and found an adult male deceased. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The Major Crash Team was activated to respond and take over the investigation. Investigators have Southeast Woodstock Boulevard between Southeast 97th Avenue and Southeast 101st Avenue.

This area will remain closed for several hours as the scene is processed and evidence is collected.
