The pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run on April 2, 2024, has been identified as Rachelle L. Schaefer, 55, of Portland.

On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 11.08 p.m., officers from the North Precinct responded to the southbound I-5 offramp to North Broadway on a call of a woman lying in the road who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. Officers arrived at the location and found the woman deceased. The driver of the involved vehicle did not remain at the scene.

The Portland Police Bureau Major Crash Team is responding to the scene to investigate. During the investigation the southbound I-5 offramp to North Broadway/Moda Center will be closed.
