The Portland Police Bureau needs the public’s help identifying numerous suspects who pickpocketed a Portland man and others across the region. Detectives fear there could be additional victims who have not yet come forward.

On Thursday, May 9, 2024, three men pickpocketed a 93-year-old Portland man in the parking lot of a Costco in the 4800 block of Northeast 138th Avenue. The suspects took the victim’s wallet out of his left rear pocket before fleeing. A short time later, the men used the victim’s credit cards to purchase hundreds of dollars in gift cards at a Fred Meyer in the 6600 block of Northeast Glisan Street. Upon further investigation, detectives learned the suspects have carried out similar crimes in the Seattle area.

PPB is releasing security video of the pickpocketing incident at the Portland Costco in hopes it will aid in locating the suspects. In addition to the theft of the 93-year-old man’s wallet, the video shows the suspects attempting additional pickpockets and casing the parking lot for additional victims.
