The Portland Police Bureau was notified that the person involved in this crash, Jamie Allen Smith, 25, of Portland died at the hospital on July 12, 2024. This is an ongoing investigation. The Major Crash Team wrapped up the on-scene portion of the investigation and North Columbia Boulevard reopened to traffic at about 6:30 a.m. The investigation is continuing.

A pedestrian is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a hit-and-run crash in the Kenton Neighborhood, and North Columbia Boulevard is closed during the investigation.

On Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 2:35 a.m., North Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of a man laying injured in the street on North Columbia Boulevard at North Argyle Way. When officers arrived, they found the man suffering serious injuries. EMS responders transported the man to the hospital with injuries that are believed to be life-threatening.

The suspect driver left the scene and was not immediately located. No suspect description is being released at this time.

The Portland Police Traffic Division Major Crash Team is responding to the scene. During the investigation, North Columbia Boulevard is closed between North Interstate Place and North Peninsular Avenue.
