The man killed in a shooting in the Hazelwood Neighborhood on August 13, 2024, has been identified as John R. Molesworth, 43, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death. They are requesting privacy at this time, but they did provide the attached photos for public release.

The Medical Examiner determined Molesworth died of homicide by gunshot wound.

A man has been shot and killed in the Hazelwood neighborhood.

On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 11:34 p.m., officers from the East Precinct responded to the 12100 block of Northeast Glisan Street on reports of a person shot. When officers arrived at the location, they found a male victim who was deceased.

No arrests have been made and no suspects have been detained.

Portland Police Bureau Homicide detectives are responding to the scene to investigate. If anyone has information about this incident, they are asked to please contact Detective Calvin Goldring at Calvin.Goldring@police.portlandoregon.gov or Detective William Winters at William.Winters@police.portlandoregon.gov 503-823-0466. Please reference case number 24-204066.

During the investigation, Northeast 122nd Avenue will be closed between Northeast Glisan Street and Northeast Oregon Street.

The identity of the victim will be released after the Medical Examiner has confirmed the cause of death and after family members have been notified. The PIO is not responding to the scene. More information will be released when appropriate.
