A man has died after a shooting at a hotel in the Sumner Neighborhood and tactical teams are responding to assist with the search for the suspect or suspects.

On Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 7:15 a.m., Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to a call of a shooting at a hotel in the 8200 block of Northeast Sandy Boulevard. When they arrived, they located an adult male in the parking lot. Emergency Medical Services transported him by ambulance, but the man died.

No immediate arrests were made. It has not been verified that the suspect or suspects left the hotel, however, so the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) are responding to assist with securing the crime scene.

The Portland Police Homicide Unit is responding to the scene and investigating. During the investigation, the parking lot of the hotel is closed, however no public streets are significantly affected.

If anyone has information about this case, please contact Detective Brent Christensen at brent.christensen@police.portlandoregon.gov 503-823-2087 or Detective J.D. McGuire at jeff.mcguire@police.portlandoregon.gov 503-823-2081 and reference case number 24-297558.

A PIO will be responding to the scene. Additional information will be released as appropriate.
