A suspect is in custody following a shooting of a teenager and a callout of police tactical teams.

On Friday, December 6, 2024 at 6:27 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to a report of a shooting in the 5000 block of North Vancouver Avenue. When officers arrived they located a 17-year-old male victim injured. Officers applied trauma first aid until emergency medical services arrived and took over care. The victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance. After treatment, his injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Officers began an investigation and learned that the suspect, an adult female, may be in a nearby apartment. They confirmed she was there, surrounding the apartment, and ordered her to come out. She did not comply, so the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) responded to the scene. Eventually the suspect came out and surrendered to officers. She is being detained pending further investigation. SERT and CNT have been released from the scene.

The Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) is responding to investigate. If anyone has information about this case and has not yet spoken to police, please e-mail crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov attn: ECST and reference case number 24-312090.

Additional information will be released when appropriate.
