On Thursday October 5, 2017, at 9:46 pm., East Precinct officers responded to the Stark Street Villa Apartments, located at 12755 Southeast Stark Street, on the report of a man trying to force his way into an apartment.

As officers responded to the location they received information that a suspect, known to residents at the apartment complex, had attempted to make entry into several residences. Officers also learned that the suspect was threatening to kill people and holding an unidentified object in his hand

When officers arrived at the location they contacted several witnesses. As officers interviewed witnesses, they learned the suspect had successfully forced his way into an apartment. Officers quickly responded to the apartment and knocked on the apartment door. After knocking on the door multiple times, no one came to the door.

Officers were concerned for the safety of the resident of the apartment based on the information provided by neighbors. Officers forced the door open and located a frightened woman inside the apartment. As officers searched the apartment they located the suspect. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. Officers also located a slung shot inside the apartment. Based on witness' statements, officers believe the slung-shot was the unidentified object the suspect held as he attempted to enter apartments.

As officers continued their investigation they located two other people in the apartment. The other two people located in the apartment were also taken into custody for outstanding warrants.

The suspect who forced his way into the apartment was identified as 37-year-old Jason A. Clifford. Clifford was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Burglary in the First Degree, Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon, Menacing, Coercion, and Theft in the First Degree.

The two additional people taken into custody were identified as 32-year-old Lindsey M. Walker and 35-year-old Dustin L. Baker. Neither Walker nor Baker are believed to be involved in this burglary. Both Walker and Baker were lodged at the Mutnomah County Jail for Washington Department of Corrections warrants.
