On Wednesday November 22, 2017, at 8:27 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of gunfire in the 10500 block of Northeast Davis Street.

As officers responded to the location a caller to 9-1-1 reported the shooting occurred in the yard of a residence on the north side of Northeast Davis Street. An additional call was placed to 9-1-1 by another person who reportedly was involved in the incident but was uninjured.

Officers arrived in the area and contacted a 53-year-old woman who stated that she was involved in a disturbance with her 36-year-old. As officers continued to investigate the incident, they learned there was gunfire during the disturbance and that the woman's son had left the location immediately after the shooting.

During the on scene investigation, officers were alerted by emergency dispatchers that the woman's son had arrived at an area hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Based on information learned by officers that responded to the hospital, the son was transported to the hospital by private vehicle.

Members of the Domestic Violence Reduction Unit and criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division are responding to assist with the investigation.

Currently, the woman involved in the disturbance has been detained as part of the investigation.

At this time, investigators do not believe there is any immediate danger to the public in relation to this shooting.

An update will be provided as the investigation continues.
