UPDATE: Police Seek Public's Help to Locate Suspect Vehicle in Fatal Crash (Photo)

The victim in a fatal hit and run crash that occurred Sunday evening on North Fessenden Street has been identified as 24-year-old Daniel G. Ramsey.

Members of the Traffic Division's Traffic Investigation Unit continue to investigate this crash. Based on evidence located at the scene, the suspect vehicle is believed to be a dark-colored 2001-2003 BMW 5 Series. The vehicle will have a broken grill and will likely have extensive damage to the hood and windshield.

Investigators believe the driver traveled eastbound on North Fessenden Street at high rate of speed when it stuck Ramsey near North Alma Avenue. The driver continued driving without stopping after it struck Ramsey.

The Police Bureau is releasing is a stock photograph believed to be similar to the suspect's vehicle. A video of the suspect's car traveling on North Fessenden Street around the time of the crash includes two separate surveillance video clips may be viewed at https://youtu.be/SQWMj9fYywI
Ramsey's death marks the 48th traffic-related fatality within the City of Portland in 2017, and the 56th Major Crash Team call out for the year.

On Sunday November 26, 2017, at 9:57 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 7000 block of North Fessenden Street.

Officers arrived in the area and located an adult male lying on the roadway. Community members were administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to the man; however, emergency medical personal determined the adult male pedestrian was deceased.

During the investigation officers, learned the vehicle that struck the pedestrian had left the scene. Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a dark colored sedan. Investigators believe the vehicle will have front end damage as a result of the crash.

The Portland Police Bureau Major Crash Team is responding to the area to take over the investigation. Criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division are also responding to assist with the investigation.

North Fessenden Street will be closed from North Alma Avenue to North Columbia Way for the next three to four hours as members of the Major Crash Team investigate this crash.
