Portland Detectives Seek Information on 25-Year-Old Man

Detectives from the Portland Police Bureau Homicide Detail are seeking the public’s assistance in providing information on the activities of 25-year-old Matthew Dean Cantrell prior to his disappearance on February 11, 2006. Cantrell was last seen on February 11, 2006, at 9:00 p.m., in the area of North Portland. His body was recovered from the Willamette River near the area of NW Front Avenue and NW Kittridge Street on March 21, 2006.

Cantrell is described as a white male, 5’9”, weighing 165 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was also known to wear a Cincinnatti Reds baseball cap. Cantrell might have been en route to the downtown Portland area on the night he disappeared. The cause of Cantrell’s death is under investigation.
