Vestas is the world leader in high-tech wind power systems, and a preferred provider of wind turbines, services and solutions in the United States and Canada. Vestas has supplied an industry-leading 55 GW and more than 49,000 wind turbines in 73 countries since 1979. Vestas sold its first wind turbine in the United States in 1981 and since has supplied more than 12,000 in 28 states. For over 10 years, Portland has been the home of Vestas’ sales and service headquarters for the United States and Canada. Located in northwest Portland, the headquarters houses 400 employes in the newly refurbished 1927 Meier & Frank department store warehouse, a building that is on the National Register of Historic Places and was recently certified LEED Platinum.


Gold Certification

  • 160,000 gallon rainwater cistern for irrigation and grey water use
  • Low-flow and low-energy fixtures used throughout the building
  • Electric hand dryers used to reduce paper towel waste
  • Partners with GoBox to provide employees with a reusable container for take-out food
  • 125 kilowatt solar panel system - made at SolarWorld in Hillsboro - supplies 12.5% of the building’s electricity
  • Bleachers in the auditorium space made from lumber harvested from local rivers. Other wood in the building is either reclaimed Douglas Fir or FSC Certified
  • Ceiling acoustical panels made from recycled glass
  • Bike parking for 80+ bikes
  • 3 electric car charging stations as well as designated carpool spots
  • Located within easy access to public transportation
