The Oregon Convention Center is the largest venue in the Pacific Northwest, and one of only two LEED Platinum buildings of its kind in the country. It is owned and managed by Metro Regional Government. OCC strives to be the most sustainable venue in the world by partnering with clients, community organizations, and visiting guests to divert as much as possible away from the landfill.
- Over 25% of electricity is generated with a 2-megawatt solar array hosted on the Convention Center roof.
- Rain falling on 5.5 acres of the roof is filtered through a rain garden, allowing for sediment to be filtered out before it reaches the Willamette River.
- In 2017, over 40,000 pounds of usable materials were donated to local nonprofit organizations.
- In 2017, 21 tons of food were donated to organizations feeding hungry Oregonians.
