The purpose of this manual is to set forth practices and guidelines to be observed by all those who temporarily close the public right-of-way; provide safe and effective work areas; and warn, control, protect, and expedite all modes of traffic.
(Updated June '21) This manual is intended for use as a supplement to the MUTCD. It documents standard practices of the bureau and provides guidelines for specific traffic control devices not included in the MUTCD.
The purpose of the Pedestrian Design Guide is to integrate the wide range of design criteria and practices into a coherent set of new standards that will, over time, promote an environment conducive to walking.
