Portland By Cycle Rides and Classes offer information and a supportive setting for adults new to cycling or just getting back on the bike. This series encourages you to use a bike more often - for fun, errands, shopping, or even commuting to work.

Get Rolling: On-Bike Riding Skills 

Sat, June 4, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

PCC CLIMB Center, SE Water Ave & Clay St

Is the road beckoning but you’re not sure you’re ready? This course will get you up to speed. The first part of the workshop focuses on the rules of the road and on-the-bike technique like signaling, turning, shifting and braking. The second half we’ll venture out to practice these skills, and take a short and easy ride around town so you can flex your new skills and we can explore the wonderful world of two-wheeled Portland.

Please bring your bike, helmet, water, a snack and wear weather-appropriate clothing. If it’s been a while since you’ve pushed the pedals, please bring your bike to a local shop for a safety check before the ride.

Meet at the time noted for sign-in and introductions; rides last about 2 hours.  Most are loop routes, returning to start point, except where noted.

Helmets are required, bringing water is recommended.

Bike, walk and fly on this kid-friendly route to the Gibbs Pedestrian Bridge and Portland Aerial Tram.  2.5 miles, not a loop

 

Bike Non-Profits Tour

Wednesday, June 22, 6:00 p.m. (meet at 5:45)

Community Cycling Center, 1700 NE Alberta St

Take a Pedalpalooza look at the hard working groups that make Portland a great bike town.  Co-hosted by Bikes for Humanity PDX, this ride is not a loop but ends at Bikes for Humanity's shop at 3354 SE Powell Blvd, where they'll host an open-house event.
