This project will improve conditions for bicycling and walking by slowing auto traffic speeds, reducing auto traffic volumes, upgrading crossings of busy streets, and creating new connections to existing bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure on or adjacent to SW and NW 20th Ave. The project is partially funded by $200k from the Fixing Our Streets initiative. Other funding sources are needed to accomplish the full capital elements planned. This project is proposed for constructed in three phases:
NW Flanders to NW Raleigh. Proposed project elements will include, speed bumps, signage, pavement markings, and traffic operation changes to protect the local, neighborhood character of NW 20th Ave.
From NW Everett to NW Raleigh. Proposed project elements will include curb extensions and other pedestrian crossing improvements at key intersections along NW 20th.
SW Jefferson to NW Flanders. Project elements and alignments to be determined as part of the Central City in Motion project.
Preliminary Project timeline
Phase 1 construction planned for summer/fall 2018
Phase 2 construction planned for 2018/19, funding dependent
