SE 136th Sidewalks to Opportunity

street view

The aim of the SE 136th Sidewalks to Opportunity project is to improve neighbors’ connections to community amenities in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood and surrounding areas.

This project combines 4 million dollars of investments from Fixing Our Streets to repave 136th and 2.7 million dollars of TSDCs to build new sidewalks and curb ramps.  TSDCs are an abbreviation for "Transportation System Development Charges," these are fees that the City collects from developers to offset the cost of new construction and to improve the City's transportation system.

Destinations in this area that will notice improved multimodal access as a result of this project include: Powell butte nature park, Gilbert Hydro Park, Gilbert Primary Park, Leach Botanical Garden, Zenger Farm, Lincoln City Park, Lincoln Park Elementary School, Gilbert Heights City Park, Kingsley D. Bundy Park, and Gilbert Heights Elementary School.

Further, because 136th is served by TriMet route 10 bus line, improvements and crossings will help residents more safety access transit.

This project has two upcoming open houses:

May 16, 2018    4:30-7:30pm   Midland Library                   805 SE 122nd Ave, Portland, OR 97233

June 5, 2018     6:00-8:00pm  Rosewood Initiative            16126 SE Stark St, Portland, OR 97233

Community Involvement Process: March-August 2018

Design: April-November 2018

Construction: Summer 2019
