The aim of the SE 136th Paving project is to improve neighbors’ connections to community amenities in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood and surrounding areas.
This project is funded through the voter-approved Fixing Our Streets program. This 4 million dollars of investment represents the single largest paving project in the Fixing Our Streets program and the project will repave 136th between Division and Foster. TSDC funding will be used to leverage this paving project to install bike lanes. TSDCs are an abbreviation for "Transportation System Development Charges," these are fees that the City collects from developers to offset the cost of new construction and to improve the City's transportation system.
Destinations in this area that will notice improved multimodal access as a result of this project include: Powell butte nature park, Gilbert Hydro Park, Gilbert Primary Park, Leach Botanical Garden, Zenger Farm, Lincoln City Park, Lincoln Park Elementary School, Gilbert Heights City Park, Kingsley D. Bundy Park, and Gilbert Heights Elementary School.
Further, because 136th is served by TriMet routes 17 & 10, improvements and crossings will help residents more safety access transit.
Project staff will share 30% design plans, visuals, and information about this project. There will be opportunities to comment and provide feedback on this project.
