42nd Ave Bridge & Corridor

 42nd Ave Bridge

Proposed 42nd Ave Bridge Replacement

What’s happening now?

PBOT has hired DEA Inc. as a design consultant. The 30% plans were completed recently and we are continuing to work on the 60% design. PBOT is coordinating with outside agencies such as: RACC, ODOT and UPRR. PBOT is preparing documentation and graphics to present to the neighboring community. Due to the current Covid19 lockdown, we are in the process of sending information to the community for a virtual open house so people can comment on the project. This is a new process so we are still working on the logistics but the community can still send question to the Project Manager contact below.

Project Background and Description:

The current bridge over NE Lombard Street is vulnerable to earthquakes and is on a recommended Emergency Transportation Route. Additionally, it is a key freight connection between Lombard and Columbia. Both weight restricted and at a low height, this bridge impacts freight transportation and has insufficient space for people walking and biking. This new connection would fill the gap between the Holman neighborhood greenway and upcoming 47th Ave protected bikeway, and provide better access for freight, walking, and biking.

Construction Date:  Fall-Winter 2021

Current Project Phase: In Design (Currently at 60% design)

Total Project Budget: $ 17,000,000.00
