SW 4th Avenue (Lincoln to Burnside) Fixing Our Streets project

What’s happening now?

The project team is currently updating SW 4th Avenue project estimate to include new signalized crossings and a protected bikeway, as recommended in Central City in Motion. A consultant design team is being brought on board to accelerate the design effort.

Project Background and Description:

This project will reconstruct and repave SW 4th Avenue from SW Lincoln to SW Ankeny. A left-running protected bikeway and new signalized pedestrian crossings will be installed and ADA corner ramps will be upgraded.

Construction Dates: 

- Phase I (SW Madison to Ankeny) will be in construction in 2020/2021
- Phase II (SW Lincoln to Madison) will be in construction in 2021/2022

Current Project Phase: Entering design

Project Budget:  

- $3,423,000 of Fixing Our Streets funds for paving maintenance
- Additional funds for bikeway and signal upgrades from Central City in Motion
