The Southwest Corridor, which stretches from Portland to Sherwood, is currently home to 11 percent of the metro area population and 26 percent of the jobs in the tri-county area. Those numbers are projected to grow over the next two decades.
The Southwest Corridor Plan is considering ways to focus and coordinate investments in transit service and roadways, active transportation, parks and natural resource projects. (For more information on the full scope of the project, visit Metro’s Southwest Corridor Plan website.)
The plan is currently in a refinement phase and a Portland Working Group has been created as a forum for Portlanders to learn about the current phase and provide input on High Capacity Transit (HCT) options as well as related roadway and multimodal transportation projects.
This phase is scheduled to run through June 2014. The Working Group will meet on the first Monday of each month from 6 to 8 PM through June 2014, at the Multnomah Arts Center, Room 30.
We invite any interested southwest Portland stakeholders - including residents, institutions, neighborhood associations and businesses - to participate.
You are invited to a Southwest Corridor Community Planning Forum on Tuesday, May 13 in Tigard to learn about and provide input on the draft staff recommendation of alignments and projects that are proposed to go into the Draft Environmental Impact Statement. The meeting will be held at the Tigard Public Works Auditorium, 8777 SW Burnham St., Tigard, from 6 to 8 P.M. In addition to the forum there will an opportunity to view materials and comment via an online survey May 6th through the 23rd.
