THE BENCHMARK DATABASE IS AT WWW.PORTLANDMAPS.COM
Seaching for elevation information about a particular area, site, address, etc. is now easier than ever. Just go to PortlandMaps.com and type in the location of your area of interest. From the top of the next page, hover the cursor over the word ‘MAPS’ and select ‘BENCHMARKS’.
The map displays blue markers for ‘Active’ benchmarks (ones which were intact at the last known instance it was used) and red markers for benchmarks that have been reported missing, damaged or destroyed (we appreciate your feedback if you encounter a need for edits or corrections to the database). Scroll down the page and you see lists of both types that were ‘captured’ within the dashed red circle. On the right side of the page you can adjust map scale and the size of the red circle and at the lower left corner of the map you can chose to display an aerial photo as the map’s background.
Not only is it no longer necessary to download third party applications to veiw the map, you can also be assured that the you’ll be getting the most up-to-date information available.
