Future Bike!

With support from bicycle manufacture Cannondale, the blog Bicycle Design held a "Commuter Bike for the Masses" design competition. The winning design (pictured, right) really intrigues me. Could this be the type of bike that entices non-cyclists to give commuting a try?
Undoubtedly, safety, convenience, time, and geography play huge roles in why people choose not to bike commute. But could a particular bicycle help them overcome some of those obstacles? The folks at Cannondale and Bicycle Design think so.
In addition to the winning design, there is an article showing all six of the finalists' designs. There are some great ideas, but I have to agree with the judges choice. The "ThisWay" commuter bicycle combines the best aspects of simplicity, comfort, utilitarianism, and affordability all in a sleek, attractive package. I am sold!
