We blogged about this a couple of years ago, but it's worth sharing again...
We are always blathering how using transit saves you money, delivers you to work without stress, reduces your global footprint, blah blah blah.
But we usually don't say that it's FUN.
Some crazy folks in the San Francisco Bay Area have put the fun squarely in commuting. These lovers of seemingly innocuous hijinks placed swings on the BART trains. Check out all the photos here.

I always think that the commute could be a great time for a workout. You know, on the bus those horizontal bars - may a pull up or twenty? Push ups from the steps on Max? Some aerobic work running from front to back of the train. Whew, and in the course of your commute you've done your work out, talk about multi-tasking.

Wow! A swing on the max train is a great idea. I can imagine how long the wait in line would be though. And everyone sitting in the area would need to 'tuck in' to avoid bruised arms and book bags being swept up and flung down the aisle by the 'swinger'. Thanks for all you do. :-) Sylvia

I was visiting Pacific Grove, Ca and I saw two people unicycling (4 ft high unicycle)to work. One in a suit and tie and another in a skirt and blouse drinking coffee!

If you've been to New York City, you've probably seen the "break-dancer-gymnastic" routines on the commuter trains! Usually 3 guys, young and in GREAT shape appear, boom box in one of their hands, and take over the central aisle of the train. Two do an incredible cirque de soleil routine with summersaults and flips through the air. In the mean time, the third gets ready to collect donations:-)
They race to the next car to do the same, and then to a third if time before hopping off the train to find a "fresh" load of commuters for the next show. It's a great way to pass the time while underground.
