September Education Update
Things are moving along swimmingly this fall in our Bike and Pedestrian Safety arena. We're scheduled to teach at 40 Portland elementary schools over the course of the year and our first month passed very smoothly.
Fall is our Bike Safety season and Safe Routes Ambassadors completed Bike Safety programs at Faubion, Boise-Eliot, Prescott, Abernethy, Chief Joseph, Lent, and Chapman this September. That means that 380 fourth and fifth graders have already received Bike Safety Education - what a great way to start the year!
We've had tremendous support from volunteers who assist our programming in a myriad of ways, ranging from accompanying students on community rides to wrenching on the bikes after their done with them. 45 volunteers supported our education programs this September, contributing 139 hours of their time to making these young students safer and more confident riders. Thank you!
