How people commute displayed in color

We saw this nifty illustration of commute mode splits in Infrastructurist.
I'm particularly challenged with making graphs and tables, so this is not as pleasing to the eye:
Wow. The only city that we blow out of the water is Houston and we're quite close in our drive-alone rate to Atlanta.
I was complaining about the latter to my erudite co-editor Scott. He noted that due to Portland's more compact development patterns that even if we had identical drive-alone rates, that total vehicle miles traveled would be much lower in Portland.
