Sunday Parkways is Coming!

Portland's next signature summer event, Sunday Parkways, is set for another great season of opening streets for bicycling, walking, hanging with your neighbors, and staying active.
Portland Sunday Parkways started in 2008 with a one-day experiment: If we closed down a few miles of streets and opened them for people instead of cars, connected a couple of parks with food and fun, and told everyone to come out for the day what would happen? 15,000 Portlanders enthusiastically showed us the answer by creating an instantaneous, mobile community. We closed the streets but everyone who came out actually made Sunday Parkways.
Now we're gearing up for five events this summer. As always, we're looking for volunteers to help out for a few hours. Our website is great place to learn more about the events, but if you want to really connect with us become a Sunday Parkways fan on Facebook. On Facebook the entire Sunday Parkways community is talking about new ideas to make the program even better. Plus, if you connect with us on Facebook you'll be one of the first to hear about the location for our September "Mystery" Sunday Parkways event!
