Getting Portlanders Back on their Feet, Walking and Working 

The Southwest and East Portland Sidewalk Infill Project will construct over 2 miles of sidewalks in several segments throughout three corridors.  The sidewalk infill will help improve the safety of students walking to school.  The specific corridors and associated Safe Routes to School schools that will benefit from the sidewalk infill project are:

• SW Barbur Boulevard and connecting routes, including SW Luradel, SW 26^th Way and SW 1^st Ave – Markham and Capitol Hill schools
• NE 82^nd Ave and SE 82^nd Ave – Harvey Scott, Woodmere, Kelly and Whitman schools
• NE Glisan Street, between 122^nd and 148^th Ave – Menlo Park School

There are many other private, middle and high schools that will also benefit from these sidewalk infill projects. 

Construction will begin in mid-June 2010.

The project will construct concrete sidewalks, rebuild driveways and corner curb ramps compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, stormwater management facilities and small retaining walls where necessary. The project will not complete all sidewalk segments on these streets. However, it will address many gaps where there is existing curb, existing public right-of-way, simple design, and where it is feasible. 

This is a City of Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) project.  The project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).
