Riding in the changing seasons

Last week I returned from two glorious weeks of vacation to find that my dear city was amidst an early transition to autumn.
On my first day back bike commuting, a thick bank of clouds covered the sky and the asphalt glistened in rich black. The air had a moist, vegetal aroma.
Fall is my favorite season, and I welcomed its early presence. Whether I'm riding, walking or waiting for the bus, I find that my commute brings me in closer contact with the seasons and my surroundings.
If you'd like to continue bike commuting after the fall equinox, the SmartTrips Green Line team is offering a free All Season Cycling workshop:
Wednesday, September 15th
East Portland Community Center

Women on Bikes is also hosting a Gear up for Winter Riding workshop on Saturday, September 18th at the East Portland Community Center. 10 am to 1 pm, in Multipurpose Room 1
