Riding in the changing seasons

Last week I returned from two glorious weeks of vacation to find that my dear city was amidst an early transition to autumn.
On my first day back bike commuting, a thick bank of clouds covered the sky and the asphalt glistened in rich black. The air had a moist, vegetal aroma.
Fall is my favorite season, and I welcomed its early presence. Whether I'm riding, walking or waiting for the bus, I find that my commute brings me in closer contact with the seasons and my surroundings.

Women on Bikes is also hosting a Gear up for Winter Riding workshop on Saturday, September 18th at the East Portland Community Center. 10 am to 1 pm, in Multipurpose Room 1
