The Portland Bureau of Transportation announced that sidewalks on the Broadway Bridge in the central city are scheduled to close one at a time beginning Monday, September 24, at 6 a.m. Work begins on the north sidewalk, so all sidewalk traffic will share the south sidewalk.
Sidewalks will close to allow work crews to repair a non-slip coating that makes sidewalks safer in wet weather.
Sidewalks will be open for the Portland Marathon.
Once work is completed on the north sidewalk, crews will reopen it and then close the south sidewalk. The project is scheduled to be finish and both sidewalks reopened by Monday, October 8.
This work is being done as part of the Portland Streetcar Loop Project, a 3.3-mile double-track extension of the existing streetcar system from the Pearl District in NW Portland, across the Broadway Bridge and south to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.
Please visit www.portlandstreetcar.org for regular construction updates. Construction is subject to change. The traveling public is asked to follow signed detours and use caution in work zones. Thank you.
