Oregon’s gas tax is the primary funding source for repairing, maintaining and building Oregon’s transportation network. Seeing a trend toward more fuel efficient vehicles and less revenue, the 2001 Oregon Legislature directed the Oregon Department of Transportation to examine various revenue alternatives.

What does the future hold? James Whitty of the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles’ Office of Innovative Partnerships and Alternative Funding will describe the Road Usage Charge Pilot Program and opportunities to keep Oregon’s roads and facilities safe.
