My grandsons, their dad, and I biked the NE loop and had a great time. I suggest one improvement if this same route is used next year. Move the Fernhill Park concessions booths INTO THE PARK. Their location on 37th Avenue was directly on the travel route, causing a major bottleneck.

In contrast the concession stands at Alberta Park were on 19th Avenue, adjacent to the travel route, and allowed bike and pedestrian traffic to flow smoothly along Ainsworth St.

My yellow lab and I walked the whole 8 miles, we are sore today. Looking forward to the next one!

My second event, first this year. Have to agree with Clay. Regardless of route, if the course passes near a park where booths are set up, booths should not be in the street and riders should be encouraged to park and the sidewalk or in the park rather than leaving the bike in the street.

I have a cynical feeling that the route intentionally went past the booths to bring more eyeballs / wallets to the vendors. That said, my son and I had a great time and wish we could have stayed longer!
