(October 15, 2013) – The Portland Bureau of Transportation advises the traveling public that two lanes on SE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday from SE Stark Street to SE Washington Street for streetcar track repairs.
During the work period, trucks will not be allowed to turn west onto SE Stark Street. Instead, westbound trucks should turn on SE Washington Street.
The work will require closure of the far right lane, where streetcar tracks are located, and the adjacent lane. The work will make stormwater drainage repairs.
Construction will require these travel lane restrictions along SE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.:
-
Two lanes of SE MLK Blvd. will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- The lane with streetcar tracks on SE MLK Blvd.will be closed for 24 hours, both days.
- Sidewalks will remain open for pedestrian and bicycle access.
- The streetcar stop at SE MLK Blvd and Stark will be closed. A temporary bus shuttle stop will be located just south of SE Washington.
The Portland Streetcar CL Line will also be shut down during this work with a bus replacement shuttle serving the line for the construction of the expanded OMSI stop platform and the connections to the east side of the new TriMet Bridge. Stops located on the left side or center of the street will board from the right side curb (map available on www.portlandstreetcar.org). Streetcar service is scheduled to resume October 19.
The traveling public is asked to follow signs and use caution in work zones.
